![]() Compensating for that off-set could be a challenge because the off-set changes direction, perhaps it is small enough to ignore otherwise when you lift and drop the blade, you would have to know which direction the blade was facing. I know it allowed the blade to swivel, which means the blade must be slightly off-centre otherwise it wouldn't "drag" and face the right direction. The head assembly on a stencil cutter we had was the most expensive part, unfortunately I can't remember details, I think it was gravity weighted with an electro-magnet to pull it up - but I'm not sure. The alternative, to have it exactly at the correct height right across the axis is difficult. With a blade you could have it spring loaded (or gravity weighted) but it will always cut into the bed to some degree. ![]() The other matter that continually crops up in 3D printing is how level the bed is. Have you also considered that if you want to cut in more than one axis (ie you want to cut more than strips), you will need to have a turning blade.
